Requirements


Law degree with distinction

First State Examination in Law or equivalent foreign degree, usually with at least "vollbefriedigend" (9 points) or an equivalent grade.

Confirmation of Supervision

Written confirmation from a member of the teaching staff at the Faculty of Law Göttingen, stating the willingness to supervise the dissertation.

Language skills

Depending on the language of the dissertation: Very good knowledge of German or English.

The application will be approved and you will be admitted as a doctoral candidate.

Requirements not met

The application will be returned with comments. An exceptional application may be required.

3 Exceptional application to the Doctoral Committee (if necessary)

An exception is required for applicants with an international master’s degree to determine the equivalence of their degree.
