Many people experience the landscapes around them every day – yet the diversity of these landscapes often remains unnoticed. At the same time, habitats for plants and animals are constantly changing. The CoBi project therefore explores how biodiversity can be documented and made visible together with citizens.

Within the project, we distinguish between so-called:
- Bright Spots: areas with particularly high biodiversity
- Dark Spots: areas with potential for increasing biodiversity

To help identify Bright Spots and Dark Spots, participants can mark locations on an interactive map during citizen forums and, as part of field surveys, upload photos and audio recordings, describe observations, and share their impressions of the landscape. The collected information is then compared with scientific biodiversity data.

The findings from the project will ultimately contribute to the further development of a smartphone app for the BioIntAkt-Projekt. The app is intended to make nature observations easier to record and visualize.
