EuropeanDoctoralDay

About the online event at the University of Göttingen:
The journey from start to finish is unique for every PhD student but still many PhD students share certain troubles as well as being able to benefit from developing specific skills. As part of the European Doctoral Day, we are offering a venue for current and prospective PhD students to listen to postdocs share valuable experiences from their time as PhD student as well as for PhD students to share and exchange their own experiences. We will also have a talk on mental health specifically for doctoral students, given by a trained psychologist and coach. The event is conducted as multiple talks, each with room for open discussions afterwards.

The preliminary program is as follows:

  • 09:00 Start and Welcome Speech - PromV Speaker Team
  • 09:15 First Talk/Workshop - TBD
  • 10:15 Short Break
  • 10:30 Second Talk/Workshop - Dr. Nadine Binder
No Mud, No Lotus: Practical Resilience Tools for the PhD Journey
    About this session:
PhD work inevitably includes setbacks, uncertainty, and self-doubt. In this 1-hour session, you’ll learn practical, research-informed tactics and strategies to recover faster after difficult moments, work with common “inner saboteurs” (e.g., inner critic, perfectionism, impostor thoughts), and build small habits that strengthen your resilience over time. You’ll leave with a personal toolkit you can apply immediately in your day-to-day doctoral work.
  • 11:30 Short Break
  • 11:45 Third Talk/Workshop - TBD
  • 12:45 Final words/Open Discussion, potentially invitation to meet for lunch on-site - PromV Speaker Team
  • 13:00 End of event

Stay tuned and join us in celebrating European Doctoral Day!
